Hey there! I'm Kayleigh, an artist based in South Wales, U.K.
My background lies in Psychology. I graduated with a BSc degree in Psychology and Criminology from Swansea University in 2018. Initially, my ambition was to go into Forensic Psychology, but I realised just how much I missed being creative and incorporating this into my work. I later decided to train in Art Psychotherapy, and graduated with a MA degree from University of South Wales in 2025. I am a HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist, and a member of the British Association of Art Therapy.
Art psychotherapy, or art therapy, is a regulated profession within the UK, and uses art-making as its primary form of communication. Art therapy has a whole plethora of different benefits, including emotional regulation and improved insight, and you do not need to be skilled in art to benefit from art therapy.
I've had a passion and interest in art for as long as I can remember. At 5 years old, I entered into a colouring competition with Maynards Bassetts' Jelly Babies and finished 1st place! I received a gift card for Toys "R" Us and purchased some new Barbie dolls (and a Barbie jet plane) for my collection. But my pencil handiwork did not stop there, and I've been drawing, colouring, and painting my way through life ever since.
Nowadays, most of my creativity is splurged into my career working with children and young people, and using art as a tool for communication and exploration. Anything arty or crafty I can get my hands on - I’m in! I do also love finding the odd hour where I can pull out my pencils to get drawing. My favourite art to make is realism portraits and animal portraits.
